Another popular attraction is the Jameos del Agua where the unique tiny white blind crabs can be found. A 6km long volcanic tunnel was created when magma flowed from La Corona to the sea in the North of the island. This centre was the first tourist attraction to be created by Cesar Manrique in the 1960's. During the day visitors can enjoy a drink and snack at the café bar, at night the venue opens twice a week for evening meals and live music events. An auditorium has been created within the tunnel and upstairs there is the Casa de los Volcanoes with lots of information about vulcanology.
Just over the road from the Jameos del Agua is the Cueva de los Verdes, which is part of the same tunnel. Here visitors descend into the lava tube for a 1 kilometre guided walk and a surprise. Residents used to flee the local villages to hide in this tunnel from pirates. Concerts are performed several times a year in the auditorium in this location.
